Real estate isn’t just what I do—it’s how I serve. I’ve built a life helping others, through healing, through guidance, and now through real estate. Every chapter has brought deeper purpose. Today, I bring that same care, persistence, and insight to helping my clients find not just a house—but home.
My life has followed a simple compass: leave people better than I found them.
When Laura, my wife, first introduced me to real estate, it felt like a natural extension of who I already was—someone drawn to helping others make meaningful decisions. I’d earned my business acumen the hard way, through setbacks and pivots, but this new path aligned with my deepest values.
That desire to help people started early. My father suffered from chronic back pain, and watching him struggle motivated me to become a chiropractor. I opened my practice in 1987, and for a time, I believed I had found my calling. But over time, I came to realize something deeper: being good at the work didn’t mean I was thriving in the role. I kept the practice going for ten years and learned a lot about grit—but I was still searching for a path where I could feel more competent, more effective, more aligned. Eventually, I decided that it wasn’t the right fit for me, and I let it go.
Around the same time, I began exploring deeper questions—questions about purpose, about how we grow, and why we’re here. That led me to Scientology, where I eventually joined staff at the DC church and worked directly with people in their spiritual development. I was helping others grow—but I still needed to make a living.
Real estate came almost by accident. Laura was assisting an agent, and every night she’d come home with stories—deals, showings, negotiations, surprises. The variety hooked me. No two days were alike, and I craved that challenge.
I got licensed in 2004. I was hooked.
Helping people navigate one of life’s biggest investments isn’t just a job—it’s a trust. I found myself drawn not to the quick wins, but to the long arcs: clients who needed time, or support, or clarity. Real estate gave me both purpose and a practical way to provide for my family—my five incredible kids: Abby, Megan, Shannon, Ellie, and Peter.
Then came the crash of 2008.
The market collapsed. We hit a real rough patch. We almost lost our home. That season tested everything in me—but it didn’t break me. I stayed in the game, worked with integrity, and began to rebuild.
Then, years later, I was diagnosed with stage 2 colon cancer. The news hit hard. I felt like I’d barely made it through one storm, and now here was another. Facing mortality stripped everything down. I wondered: Had my life really mattered?
But God wasn’t finished with me. I survived cancer. And not just that—I flourished. In 2023, I had the best year of my career. I paid off my debts, helped more clients than ever, and found a deep peace I hadn’t felt in decades.
Today, I work with a sense of gratitude and resolve. Laura and I love quiet evenings, movies, and visits with our grandkids. I’m not slowing down anytime soon. After all I’ve walked through, I feel unstoppable—and there’s no challenge I won’t help my clients overcome.
What makes me different? I don’t chase deals. I walk with people.
My clients feel that. I’ve worked with buyers for years before they find the right fit—and I never rush them. I help people move at the speed of trust. I believe decisions should be informed, confident, and grounded in what really matters.
I point out red flags. I slow things down when they feel off. And I’m constantly clearing up confusion so my clients don’t make decisions based on assumptions.
I bring more than 20 years of business experience and the calm of someone who’s weathered storms. Named one of the top 500 agents in the DC Metro area, I negotiate hard but fair, and I bring creative thinking to every challenge.
To me, real estate is about more than transactions—it’s about transformation. A move is often about a fresh start, a new chapter, a bold decision. I’m here to guide that journey with care, clarity, and conviction.
Sincerely,
Bruce Wertz
